Challenger is an American brand of agricultural tractors. The company was founded in 1937 by Karl and Vrede Ball. Challenger is a subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., the world's largest manufacturer of construction equipment.
The Challenger brand was born out of necessity. In the early 1930s, farmers were struggling to keep up with the demand for food. The Great Depression had left them with fewer resources and fewer options. Karl Ball saw an opportunity to help farmers become more efficient and productive. He designed a new type of tractor that would be lighter and more maneuverable than the existing models.
Challenger tractors are known for their strength, durability, and innovation. Today, Challenger offers a full line of tractors ranging from compact models to large agricultural machines, combine harvesters, hay tools, and other equipment.
