Steiger History

The Steiger name has been associated with high-powered, four-wheel drive tractors since the early 1950s. The company was founded by Bob Steiger in 1952, when he built his first tractor in a small garage in West Bend, Iowa. Steiger initially focused on building specialty tractors for farmers who needed a machine that could handle the heavy work of pulling stumps and tilling fields of rocks. In 1957, Steiger released his first production model, the Bearcat. This tractor was different from anything else on the market at the time because it had more than twice the horsepower of other farm tractors. IH was acquired by Tenneco in 1984 and the Steiger brand became a part of Case IH in 1999.

Steiger Lineup

Steiger now offers six different models, from the entry-level Panther to the high-horsepower Tiger. Each model is designed for a specific type of farming operation, whether it’s dairy, livestock, crops, or mixed farms.
