Cockshutt was a large agricultural machinery manufacturer, based in Canada and the United States, that was in operation from 1877 until 1986.
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in vintage Cockshutt machinery. This is due in part to the fact that many of these machines are still in excellent working condition. Additionally, the Cockshutt brand has a rich history and an exciting future.
The Cockshutt brand has a rich and interesting history dating back to the late 1800s. The company was founded by brothers George and William Cockshutt, who was born into a family of English farmers who had emigrated to Canada in the early 1800s. The brothers began their careers as blacksmiths, but soon recognized the need for better-quality farm equipment in North America. They started manufacturing plows and other implements in their blacksmith shop, and quickly gained a reputation for quality craftsmanship.
The Cockshutt brand was resurrected in 2016 with the introduction of the Cockshutt 3050. This 50-horsepower (HP) row-crop tractor is built by Mahindra in India. The Cockshutt 3050 has many features that appeal to today's farmers, including a Tier IV engine, 12x12 Power Shuttle transmission, and standard rear PTO and three-point hitch.
In 2018, the Cockshutt 4052 was introduced. This 52 HP compact tractor is also built by Mahindra in India. It shares many of the same features as the 3050, but also includes a mid-PTO and factory cab option.
